ReplyDeleteCan someone please tell me what happened? Steph and I got banded on the same day and we have kept in touch for several years. Last I heard from her in August she was doing her surgery. When I hadn't heard anything from her in so long I checked here for an update and now I am reading these comments and I am in shock and my heart is broken. Did something go wrong with surgery?

ReplyDeleteJack, from what I understand there will be no info given on the internet because of legal issues. There was a complication with the surgery and she died a few days later after being in ICU is pretty much the only info released. Its so heartbreaking. I think so many people are shocked and grieving her death. I guess the details are really not that important. Everyone who has WLS is taking a risk, we don't like to think about it, and then something like this happens to such a young and beautiful person. We all make an informed choice and just try to put our lives in the most qualified and proven surgeons and let the dice roll. Poor Steph and her family. May Steph look down on them and bring them some peace in such an awful time. So many people are praying for them.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. This is just heartbreaking. I realized her blog had not been updated in a while and came over here to check on her and find that she is gone. Sending prayers for her family and friends who were touched by her life. :(
